The Challenges of Blindside Waterproofing

Presented by Steve Gordon (Preservation & Protection Systems, Inc.)

Join BEC Washington D.C. for a presentation on local challenges when installing blind-side waterproofing, the importance of shoring systems, and detailing and design considerations.  The presenter will also highlight potential means of mitigating the risk to drainage systems due to iron ochre.

Learning objectives:

  1. Evaluate and select appropriate waterproofing systems and components for specific site conditions and construction methods,

  2. Identify common difficulties and problems for waterproofing installation and performance,

  3. Identify methods to avoid, prevent and solve problems associated with blind-side waterproofing, and

  4. Discuss the importance of a standardized Quality Assurance Program.

If you plan to attend, please click here for more information and to pre-register. Registration is also available at the door. Although we are striving to keep our regular monthly programming free, as it has been in the past, we are currently being asked to charge as outlined on the AIA website for events. We are currently working with AIA DC to eliminate this charge for our monthly meetings, and, until then, we hope that you will still be able to join us. We will continue to strive to provide interesting, engaging, and practical programming that also offers AIA CES credit.
